Our service is currently only available over the phone due to the current outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Home visits and outreaches are also suspended until further notice.
If you or someone you know needs our service, just give us a call for a brief interview that will serve as an Initial Check. In this initial conversation, we’ll triage the problem you are seeking advice on and you may be given the information you need straight away, we may arrange for you to have a full advice interview, or will have you speak to one of our Project Workers on that same day, or a later date. Alternatively, we may advise you to call the national Citizens Advice Adviceline.
You can also click here to browse our self-help information website. Here we include particularly helpful sections on a wide range of inquiry areas our community seeks advice on. Feel free to look at it first to see if it helps with navigating your issue.
If you need a translator, just know that we can only provide translators as part of certain Project Worker interviews.
You can access our services via the following options:
You can call us at 01634 383 760 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. Local call rates do apply.
You can call the national Citizens Advice telephone service for free at 0800 144 8848 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. If you're calling from a mobile device, you will be asked to enter a landline number to help direct your call to the nearest Citizens Advice office. This can be any landline number if you don't have one.
You can email us 24/7 at info@medwayadvice.org.uk. We always strive to respond to every email within 5 working days. Please be aware though that our priority is currently our telephone service due to the COVID-19 outbreak, so if you need immediate assistance, please give us a call.
After your initial conversation, the next step may be:
All of the information and advice we provide is quality checked, thorough, confidential, and reliable. Many clients find themselves receiving enough information from us at their Initial Check that they feel empowered to begin to resolve the issue themselves. Other clients may be struggling with a more complex issue and need additional help, which we stand ready to assist with!
Only a portion of our clients qualify for support from our Project Workers. These Project Workers specialise in specific projects that operate thanks to the generosity of funding from our supporters.
These specialised projects include:
On our self-help website, we include particularly helpful sections on a wide range of inquiry areas our community seeks advice on.
Funded by the Trussell Trust, this helpline aims to ensure anyone who cannot afford food can receive a food parcel.
Help to Claim: Funded by the DWP, this service assists people who need to claim Universal Credit.
Funded by the Money Advice Service, this project helps to provide money and debt advice to anyone in debt.
Funded by the Legal Aid Agency, this project provides those who are eligible for legal aid with advice if their problem is within the scope of legal aid in housing law.
This partnership between Citizens Advice Medway and two solicitor firms allows us to provide free legal advice on civil liberties, clinical negligence, and criminal law.
If you don’t qualify for one of the above projects, don’t worry. We will still offer you as much support as you need from our office, although your issue may require multiple appointments.
Regardless of your problem, remember – our help is free, impartial, and confidential. Citizens Advice has been in the advice business for over 70 years so if we can’t help, we will know who can.
