Citizens Advice Medway’s housing team is funded by the Legal Aid Agency. This means that our LAA Housing Project Workers can only assist with inquiries that meet the financial eligibility requirements for Legal Aid and fall under the scope of Legal Aid.
Due to the very strict criteria of Legal Aid funding, to receive LAA Housing assistance, your case must fall under one or more of the below categories. If your situation falls outside of this, our Citizens Advice Medway Advisors are still able to help you in the form of a one-off appointment.
Additionally, our LAA Housing Team also attends the Medway, Maidstone, Basildon, Tunbridge Wells, and Dartford County Courts on the days when repossession hearings are held. This team can advise you on your case and go into the hearings with you. However, they are only able to assist those in our community who have hearings booked on that specific day, and unable to guarantee they will be able to attend a future hearing with you.
If you are interested in utilising the LAA Housing Team, you will need to go through our Initial Check process first. Once we have confirmed that you are financially eligible and your case falls under the scope of Legal Aid, we can then arrange an appointment for you to see one of our LAA Housing Project Workers.
