Support for the people of Medway

Research & Campaigns

As well as helping people solve their problems, Citizens Advice Medway aims to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives. By doing this, we hope we can help the members of our community prevent these problems from happening again.

To do this, we have a dedicated Research and Campaigns team at Citizens Advice Medway. This team collects evidence based on what causes people’s problems and then uses this evidence to raise awareness and challenge the people and policies responsible for those problems.

Citizens Advice Medway Newspaper.gifThe issues we focus on are those that impact our Citizens Advice community. Every problem our team helps to navigate is considered a possible Research and Campaigns issue. Since we are looking at issues on both the local and national levels, we work on some campaigns that affect our residents and others that affect the national population.

Currently, our three local campaigns are

  • Housing and Homelessness
  • Problems with Universal Credit
  • Digital inclusion

These campaigns are some of the most prominent issues affecting the clients who come through our doors. Besides these, we also run shorter campaigns throughout the year and take part in national events with other organisations, such as Big Energy Saving Week and Scams Awareness Month. Additionally, we have also conducted a Financial Debt Survey across Medway in the hopes of determining why people borrow and the problems this can cause.

All our volunteers inform every client about our Research & Campaigns team. And everybody at Citizens Advice Medway is encouraged to participate and help the public in this way.

If you would like to let us know about a problem you think is affecting people in Medway, contact the Research and Campaigns team. You can do this by sending an email to info@medwayadvice.org.uk or by calling 01634 383760 and asking to speak to a member of the team.
